Learning Support Services

Saint Andrew has partnered with Catapult Learning to support individual student needs, improve academic gains, and build teacher and principal capacity. Steeped in research-based curriculum and proven instructional models and processes, experts work to ensure students receive the best possible instructional support, while educators receive the personalized professional development needed to transform their instruction into opportunities for innovative student learning.

Beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, Saint Andrew Catholic School has instituted a Learning Support program for students in 4th through 8th grades. This Learning Support program is offered for students with specific learning disabilities, students who need additional support, as well as students with ADHD.

This Learning Support program is similar yet different to Catapult services which are available to students in grades K-4. The Learning Support program offers services to students with specific needs in Reading and Math. The Program uses the same curriculum used in the student’s classroom; however, there are many different scaffolding techniques and caters to each student’s individual learning style and interests.

The Learning Support program “pushes-into” classrooms, meaning our Learning Support Team supports the classroom teachers by co-teaching, working in small groups, and supporting all students in their reading and math classrooms.

Learning Support also offers modified testing services for students. Students are able to visit her classroom to have tests read aloud in a quiet and calm testing environment.
These classroom are open, serene, yet fun space for the students with a flexible seating arrangements.  Students may choose seating from stability balls to regular chairs in many different locations throughout the Learning Support room.

Our Learning Support Team has also created a “Homework & Peer-Tutoring Club” at  Saint Andrew. This club is offered for any student in grades 1 through 5. The club offers homework and study assistance from select eighth grade students as well as high school students from Villa Joseph Marie and Holy Ghost Prep.
