Connelly Foundation  Neumann Scholarship

The Neumann Scholarship program identifies academically talented 8th grade students through an independently administered competitive examination. Students will receive a four-year scholarship to the Archdiocesan high school of their choice.

Each year, more than 900 eligible students from the parish/regional elementary schools in five counties and IMS compete for this scholarship.

 Josephine Connelly Achievement Awards

The Josephine C. Connelly Achievement Award is a four-year tuition grant presented to 8th grade students who best demonstrate the value of a Catholic education by striving to achieve their full academic potential. The four-year grant covers 40% of the student’s tuition at one of the seventeen AOP high schools and Mercy Career and Technical High School or a predetermined award amount at Cristo Rey.

Scholarships are awarded to students currently attending Philadelphia County parish/regional/IMS Catholic elementary schools. Six non-Philadelphia or “suburban ring schools” are also included.

January                     Due date for confidential list of recipients

                                  OCE Notification of approved awards. Principals distribute Certificate of Acceptance to award recipients.

February                   Deadline for returning completed Certificate of Acceptance to the Office of Catholic Education.

April 11                     Local Announcement of Awards through out the Archdiocese.

May                           Receptions for recipients and guests

 John T. Mitchell Memorial Trust Scholarship

The John T. Mitchell Memorial Trust Scholarship supports Catholic African American students with exceptional academic ability who are in need of financial assistance. Scholarships are awarded annually based upon the determination of the selection committee.

 Maguire Foundation Scholarship

The Maguire Foundation, in partnership with the Faith in the Future Foundation, awards $3,000 per-year scholarships to at least six students in each of the seventeen qualifying AOP high schools or Mercy Career and Technical High School.  This scholarship has been extended to include the high school class of 2024.

The scholarship is renewable for each of the four years of high school, given that the Maguire Scholar maintains standards consistent with the qualifications listed in the program packet.

Howley Family Foundation Scholarship

The Howley Family Foundation Scholarship awards $3,200 annually to the recipient, a total of $12,800 over four years. The recipient must carry a 3.0 average and be involved in a minimum of one extra-curricular activity. Recipients must also show a minimum of $5,000 need through the FACTS Grant and Aid application process

Scholarships are available at the following AOP high schools: Roman Catholic, Hallahan, Little Flower, Bonner & Prendergast, Bishop McDevitt, Neumann & Goretti, West Catholic, and Mercy Career & Technical.

Breakaway Scholarship

The Breakaway Scholarship is a scholarship to attend one of the Faith in the Future high schools within the Philadelphia Archdiocese. This scholarship will cover the full or partial cost of tuition and school fees. Books, uniforms, etc., are not covered. The scholarship is renewable each year of high school if the student continues to meet the eligibility requirements.

 MorScholars Program

The MorScholars Program will identify 18 outstanding incoming freshmen (one per high school) entering the FIF high schools (including Marcy Career and Technical) for the 2019-20 school year. The Archdiocesan high schools will identify candidates who meet the academic and financial need requirements of the scholarship program.
